Diary: Theatre Debut

A view of the stage.

“Last night, I dreamt of making sense,
parts of speech caught up in sheets
and blankets, long strips of fabric
wrapped loosely around shoulders,
goblets, urns, cups with unmatched saucers.”

—Michael Broder

Months ago, I posted about a play of mine that was accepted for a potential performance. Well, it took place over two nights and was a roaring success! The first evening was SOLD OUT and the second night was almost just as full. Let me take you through the timeline.

In September, I came across a tweet asking for short scripts to potentially be performed in Manchester. I immediately sent off an email and went about my life. The following month, I received an email to say my play was among the ones chosen. After that, I was put in touch with the director of the event, Jonathon Carley (The Power of Parker, Big Finish, It’s A Sin).

Over the next few months, everything was put together, and it has culminated into a successful two-night event!

I have always wanted to be a writer, but I truly never saw myself writing for the stage. However, I adore the form and am continuously working on more. This certainly won’t be my last foray into the theatre.

A HUGE thank you to everyone on the team for my play, The Change:

★ Jonathon Carley ★
★ Rebecca-Clare Evans ★
★ Nikola Bartošová ★
★ Amanda J Fleming ★

Also, thank you Salford Arts Theatre for taking us in!
